3 Things Most People Forget To Pack For Their Vacation Rental

Posted on

The tickets are booked, the excursions planned, and now it's time to pack your bags for vacation. Before you leave home, check out these three things you may have overlooked in getting ready for your vacation rental

1. Device Chargers and Accessories

Even if you're planning to go off the grid on vacation, most people still want to be able to take photos and occasionally check in from their mobile devices. Forgetting a charger can ruin the opportunity for all of those photo memories.

If you're planning on traveling out of the country, remember that you may also need to bring outlet adapters and voltage converters in order to plug your device in at your destination. While these accessories are usually available in-country, you won't want to have to seek one out after your phone has run out of battery in an unfamiliar location.

2. Excursion Equipment

Whether it's a ski vacation in the mountains or a beachside paradise, you won't want to arrive without the things you need to make the most of your location. Vacation rentals are a great place to stay and play, but don't forget the beach toys, hiking boots, pet food, or snow gear.

Think about when and where you might like to eat as well. If you're trying to save money by purchasing groceries, it may be helpful to bring a cooler for transporting beverages or picnic meals while you're out and about.

If you do forget something essential for the adventure and don't want to buy it while you're there, the vacation rental company may have some suggestions for renting equipment locally or a second-hand store where used items may be cheaper.

3. Personal Items

Depending on the rental, you may need to bring amenities with you such as soap, shampoo, laundry detergent, and trash bags. Even if these items are provided, you may want your own favorite brands along for the trip.

Vacation rentals will usually provide paper goods such as bathroom tissue and paper towels, but it could also be helpful to bring plastic wrap, aluminum foil, or disinfecting wipes just in case. Doing so saves you the time and money of having to buy something you already had in your cupboard at home.

Makeup wipes or face towels are also a good idea as some companies have a fee associated with stained linens to cover extra laundry services or replacement.
